BTEC Level 1/2 Tech Award Updates

As the end of the summer series draws nearer, we have released information and support for the next school year to help with your planning, including the 2024-2025 Key Dates Schedule. You can also find further support and guidance under the drop-down menus below.

Date Tech Awards (2022)
16 August 2024 Restricted release of results to centres
22 August 2024 Release of results to learners
26 September 2024 Reviews of marking and moderation (ROMM) deadline

Please note, due to the terminal assessment rules, the externally assessed component must be sat during the same assessment series in which certification for the qualification is requested.

The terminal assessment rule requires learners to take the external assessment at the end of their qualification (the series in which the learner certificates). This means that learners must sit internal component assessments either prior to or in the same series as the external assessment to fulfil this terminal rule.

If a learner chooses to retake an internal assessment in a series after they sat the terminal external assessment, they will also need to resit the external component to satisfy the terminal rule.

Learners are allowed one retake of each internal component, and one resit of the external assessment within the programme.

During the pre-election period, the government postponed submissions of cycle 2 level 3 qualifications (including Art  and Design and Creative Media qualificaitons), and any new defunding or funding announcements until after the 4 July.

We will continue to keep you informed about changes on our webpages and we will send out regular updates, so please sign up for these. We will also host webinars where you will have a chance to explain how changes might impact your curriculum.

The remaining 2010 QCF qualifications in Creative Media Production have a final registration date of August 2024. From September 2024, here are the available options for new learners:

  • 2016 Nationals in Creative Digital Media Production are a direct replacement for the QCF qualification sizes, with specialist titles offered. These include external assessment and are on performance tables

  • 2019 Nationals in Creative Media Practice is available in Foundation Diploma and Extended Diploma sizes. It has no specialist titles or optional units, however technical content is selected by the centre so you can design the specific programme you want to offer. 100% internally assessed, but not on performance tables

Now You See Us: Women Artists in Britain

Spanning 1520–1920, this Tate Britain exhibition dismantles stereotypes surrounding women artists in history, who were often thought of as amateurs. The exhibition sheds light on how these artists championed equal access to art training and academy membership, breaking boundaries and overcoming many obstacles to establish what it meant to be a woman in the art world.
