This qualification has been approved as enabling students to meet the knowledge, skills and behaviour requirements of the updated Assistant Practitioner (Health) occupational standard.  This occupational standard is a revision of the popular Healthcare Assistant Practitioner standard which is used widely in both by both NHS and independent sector employers.

The HND in Health Professions’ Support has been designed to enable students to undertake a qualification that is completely relevant to the service users they care for, the professions they support and their employers.

It was developed in conjunction with NHS and independent sector employers, and education providers who are currently using HNDs to educate and train their workforce.  As a level 5 qualification it meets Health Education England's assistant practitioner framework requirements.

Students who gain the HND are likely to find employment as assistant practitioners in a wide range of health and care settings such as hospitals, independent providers of diagnosis and care, GP surgeries and the community.

Pearson UK looks forward to welcoming the first cohort of students onto HND programmes in September 2023.
