DfE update on re-sit opportunities for level 3 learners
We’re sharing with you an update the Department for Education (DfE) sent to us in late July 2018 about resit opportunities for learners studying BTEC level 3 qualifications included on the Applied General and Tech Level performance tables in England. We’ll explain what they told us, and clarify what this means for you and your learners.
The DfE has let us know:
“Ahead of courses commencing in September, Ministers have decided that whilst pre-existing qualifications are being offered alongside the new […] qualifications the additional retake opportunity should continue.”
What this means for you in 2018/19: Two resit opportunities
- currently studying any BTEC Level 3 National (RQF) or one of the four BTEC Level 3 Specialist Hospitality titles (Food and Beverage Supervision, Chef de Partie, Kitchen and Larder, Patisserie and Confectionery), or
- registering from September 2018
will have a maximum of two opportunities to re-sit external assessments (three attempts in total).
