This particular partnership, with the DHSC, aims to support 10,000 young people (aged 16-30) to start their new careers in the health and social care sector over the next 3 years. Healthcare is a key pillar of our societies, and we have seen this more than ever in recent years.

Programmes

Typically lasting from 4-6 weeks, this is an in-depth programme that focuses on increasing young people’s chances of securing employment in the many different career paths available within the Health and Social Care sector.

The programme includes a combination of classroom-based learning and a hands-on work placement.

Get started is delivered over 2–5-days and is an intensive sector-specific programme which includes employability skills, workshops and multiple interviews for live job vacancies with our employer partners on the last day of the programme.

The mentoring programme offers young people the opportunity to receive 1-1 support from a Princes Trust mentor. Mentors support young people with all aspects of employability including searching for jobs, application support and interview preparation.

In addition to the stand-alone mentoring programme, the Prince’s Trust also match young people to a mentor for up to 6 months after completion of a programme. This ensures young people receive the support they may need to gain and/or sustain employment.

These programmes aim to build a diverse workforce and create a new supply of workers in sectors where there are gaps. Furthermore, they help to increase young people’s social mobility, affecting long-term social, economic and health outcomes. They add significant value by providing young people with ongoing support.
