On-programme

The on-programme part of our offer is specific to the individual standard and not all standards will include an on-programme offer from Pearson. This is because the New Apprenticeship Standards may or may not have a qualification that is mandatory for apprentices to achieve as part of their apprenticeship.

You can use our on-programme offer regardless of whether you are using Pearson as your end-point assessment provider. 

Qualifications

Some new standards have retained mandatory qualifications as specified by employer Trailblazer groups.

Mandatory qualification example

The Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship standard has a mandatory qualification specified within the assessment plan. In such cases, Pearson’s on-programme offer will signpost to the mandatory qualification.

In some new standards, the assessment plan ‘recommends’ that apprentices complete and achieve a relevant qualification, though this is NOT mandatory.

Recommended qualification example

The Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 standard recommends that apprentices ‘complete and achieve a relevant Level 3 Diploma in Management or equivalent qualification recognised by Ofqual which equates to at least 370 hours Total Qualification Time (37 credits)’.

In this case, Pearson recommends the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Management that has been mapped to the Team Leader/Supervisor standard.

In other standards, where no qualification is mandatory or recommended within the assessment plan, Pearson can signpost to a mapped qualification that can be used to structure the delivery of on-programme learning to support the apprentice in gaining the right knowledge, skills and behaviours whilst on-programme.

Mapped qualification example

The Customer Services Practitioner Level 2 standard has neither a mandatory or recommended qualification but there is a qualification that has been mapped to the standard.

In this case, the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service has been mapped to the standard.
