New apprenticeships Senior Healthcare Support Worker

This apprenticeship has been designed to be taken by anyone wanting to work as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker. The apprentice can specialise in a specific area, including, Adult Nursing Support Worker, Maternity Support Worker, Theatre Support Worker or Mental Health Support Worker.

Work is taking place so that apprentices specialising in Allied Health Professions (Therapy Support Worker) or Children and Young People Support Worker, are also able to complete this apprenticeship.

Mandatory requirements

In order to meet the apprenticeship standard apprentices will be required to hold or achieve a:

  • Minimum of Level 2 English
  • Minimum of Level 2 Maths
  • Complete the 15 standards required by the Care Quality Commission
  • Complete the mandatory qualification identified for the specialism

The on-programme pace will be driven by the apprentice as well as by the breadth of experience an employer can offer prior to the minimum of 18months, after which end-point assessment will take place.
