What are Entry and Level 1 Programmes?

Designed to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to raise their potential for progression, Entry and Level 1 Programmes (Foundation Learning) provide a flexible framework of qualifications for learners at Entry Levels 1 to 3 and Level 1.

They enable you to create personalised programmes of structured, skills-based qualifications with clear progression routes for each learner, whether this is to independent living, further education or employment.

Our Entry and Level 1 Programmes span 4 different qualification types:

  • Personal and Social Development - helping learners to develop their personal and social development skills while gaining confidence and self-esteem.

  • Functional Skills - equipping learners with the basic practical skills required in everyday life, education and the workplace.

  • BTEC Entry and Level 1 qualifications - introducing learners to the skills required to work in a particular sector or vocational area.

  • BTEC IT Users (ITQ) - giving learners the IT skills they need to be successful in a digital world.

Who are Entry and Level 1 Programmes aimed at?

Our Entry and Level 1 Programmes focus on the needs and motivations of your learners. We’ve identified 4 typical learner groups so you can build suitable learning programmes to help them achieve their full potential.
